DIY Hack : Fruit Flies

We all know those small, pesky, flying insects that show up out of nowhere to attack our fruit baskets. Before you throw out all the fruit on your countertops, here is a DIY hack to rid you of these pesky little things. The best part, most of us have these supplies handy in our kitchen! 

What you’ll need: 

2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 Tbsp sugar

2 drops of dish soap

Small container

Plastic wrap

Mix together apple cider vinegar, sugar, and dish soap in the small container. Cover with plastic wrap, and poke small holes in the top (toothpicks work great for this!). Place the container in the problematic area, or replace your fruit basket with the container. You’ll want to get rid of any “bad” fruit and place the rest of the fruit in your refrigerator or somewhere where the fruit flies cannot get to. 

For most situations, one mixture is plenty, and you should see results in less than one day. However, let’s say you left some bananas on your countertop before leaving for your week-long vacation, and you’ve come back to an absolute fruit fly infestation! For situations such as these, we would recommend you mix several containers of this solution and place them throughout the problematic areas. You should still see results in less than one day.
